Import agency services

  • We support our customers to import non-approved animal health products (mainly in-vitro diagnostics) from overseas on behalf of them.
  • We provide a wide range of import agency services such as import consulting, product inquiries, wire transfers, and order placements.
  • We also offer international and domestic transport arrangements, animal quarantine processes, and customs clearances at the airport.

Required Documents

Documents from foreign manufacturers:

  1. Commercial invoice for the customers
  2. Packing list
  3. Air Waybill
  4. Product license (or ISO certificate)
  5. Certificate of analysis
  6. Certificate of BSE free
  7. Certificate of inactivation including components of biological origin (or health certificate)
  8. Insert
  9. Brochure
  10. SDS (in case of deleterious drug)

Documents from customers (end-users):

  1. AH Product Import Application Forms
    ·Bekkiyoshiki 84-2 (Import verification)
    ·Bekkiyoshiki 1 (Product summary)
    ·Bekkiyoshiki 2 (Research plan)
  2. Commitment Forms (in case BSE free certificate is not provided from manufacturer)
  3. Veterinarian License (for medical care purposes only)
  4. Approval of the Prefectural Governor for the usage of biological products (for medical care purposes only)

*ALVIS obtains the documents from both sides for customs clearance in Japan.

Costs Associated With Import

Costs fluctuate daily due to the impact of exchange rates, size of the shipment, number of days required, etc.

Costs incurred overseas
Foreign currency: the exchange rate is applied
(subject to import consumption tax or out of scope)

  • Shipping & handling fees: Costs associated with shipping (may not be required)

[ Overseas Customs Broker ]

  • Pickup costs within the country of manufacture: costs of transporting the product from the factory/warehouse to a local airport (may be included in the airfreight costs)
  • Airfreight charges: Transportation costs from a local airport to Narita Airport

  • Customs fees: Customs clearance costs
  • Quarantine fees: Costs related to animal and plant quarantine
  • Handling fees: Fees associated with the handling of shipments by customs brokers
  • Storage fees: Cargo storage fee at the airport (varies depending on storage period, weight, and temperature)
  • Domestic transportation cost: Shipping cost from Narita Airport to delivery destination (varies depending on dimensions, weight, temperature, and distance)

  • Agency fees: Consulting fees for import agency services and fees related to various import procedures
  • Foreign currency remittance fees: Bank charges incurred in connection with the remittance of the product price (in a foreign currency)

*In addition, there may be a repackaging fee depending on the size, and an inspection fee if the item is inspected by customs officials.
